What we do at Family Watchdog
Posted on Thursday, January 31, 2019
I often get asked what we do at Family Watchdog. Let me tell you what, it's more than just posting offenders and their crimes. It's our small team constantly mapping, coding, researching laws, writing blogs, updating our Facebook with current events, answering client phone calls and emails and verifying data. All so you can know who is in your neighborhood. And all while making sure our site is free for you to use!
Our Coding and Data team is constantly writing code to help improve the way we get our data. We want to make sure we have the most up to date information available to you at your fingertips. We also make sure that our mapping is easy to read and accurate. This is one of the harder jobs as it involves so much coding! I don't even know where to begin explaining everything they do, but without them, we wouldn't be much of a site, so we are thankful!
Our Customer support teams are broken up into many different areas - some of us respond to emails and calls from everyday people to offenders trying to figure out why they are on our registry (public information) which is why we are always researching laws and figuring out what legally can be posted.
Another side of our customer support team does all the work for our paid clients! We offer API checks and something you may not know - our data is used in schools to help verify a visitor is not a registered offender. Pretty cool, huh?
We also do DAILY data verification from all 50 states, 3 US territories and all Tribes across the US. We have to verify that our data is updated and current with their information to keep everything smooth sailing!
We don't just stop there, we are constantly reading and watching the news to see what is going on in the US with some high priority cases and child abuse cases since it's so close to our hearts. We like to push this information onto our Facebook team to make sure that the stories get out there. So if you haven't already, go ahead and like our Facebook page!
Another thing that we take pride in doing is talking all things safety. You will see in our newsletters, blogs, and Facebook posts, we do a lot of safety and health special bulletins. As well as some things we just find fun or helpful - sometimes we like to lighten the load and make those gloomy things disappear for a but and focus on the more cheery things in life.
We love hearing from our readers, visitors and followers. How has Family Watchdog helped you? Is there anything else you think we can do to improve our site for 2019? Tell us below or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org - we look forward to hearing from you and seeing what your input may be!
